The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning about dental problems with buprenorphine medicines dissolved in the mouth to treat opioid use disorder and pain.

A new guideline developed by the American Dental Association (ADA) along with the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine states that NSAIDs alone, or in combination with acetaminophen, are effective as a first-line treatment for short-term dental pain in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.
